Rev Simon Helme is moving on…

After 25 years of being minister at Dursley Tabernacle the Revd Simon Helme will be moving on in August to take up a new appointment as minister of Christchurch, Ilkley.
Simon says ‘I have had 25 wonderful and memorable years at Dursley Tabernacle. I will have been the longest serving minister in the church’s history. I believe I will leave the church much stronger than when I found it with many gifted and committed people who I have every confidence in to take the church forward. Dursley has been a fantastic place to live and bring up a family. We will be sad to leave. However, my national church asked me to take on one final challenge before I retire and after much discernment, we believe God is calling me north. So as a Lancastrian I am being sent as a missionary to Yorkshire!’
The Church Family and eldership want to recognise Simon’s commitment to serving God in our community with such dedication for so long. We are grateful for his wisdom, care and guidance over the years and we pray that the future will be full of blessings for both himself, his family and his new Church.
Simon’s last service will be at Dursley Tabernacle on Sun 9th August at 10.30am. All are welcome to share in the farewell.
