IGNITE Conference

IGNITE is a two day conference at Dursley Tabernacle URC Friday 17th – Saturday 18th October 2014 exploring the person and work of the Holy Spirit from a Reformed Church Perspective.

The conference will be led by Revd Paul Stokes, a URC Minister currently serving at Plymstock United Church, and a national director of the Dunamis Project (visit www.dunamis.org.uk )

On Friday 17th October 7.30 – 9.15pm the evening session will look at Introducing the Spirit: looking at experiences of the Holy Spirit at work, our worldviews and how they affect our views; and who not what the Spirit as the third person of the Trinity is.

On Saturday 18th October the first morning sessions 10am to 11.15am will focus on Understanding the Spirit: Great Expectations – our need and Jesus’ promise of the Holy Spirit; Antiquity – the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament; Epiphany – the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament. The second morning sessions 11.30am to 12.45pm will be about Encountering the Spirit: Pentecost – the Spirit’s work in the early church; Encompassing – what the Holy Spirit does in our lives; Clothed and Inhabited – biblical distinctions about the Spirit’s activity.

After a lunch break the final afternoon sessions 1.55 – 4pm will explore Co-operating with the Spirit: Growing in the Spirit’s power; Welcoming the Spirit’s gifts.
