Holy Week at Dursley Tabernacle

MAUNDY THURSDAY COMMUNION SERVICE 17TH APRIL 7.30PM
A service based on Matthew’s Gospel chapter 26 reliving, through a series of reflections and meditations, the night of the last supper and the betrayal and denial of Jesus. All welcome.

GOOD FRIDAY CHURCHES TOGETHER WALK OF WITNESS
Starts at Sainsbury’s at 9am. Walking with the Cross, hundreds of people from the various churches in Cam and Dursley and members of the general public make their way, via a number of stations where there are readings, prayers and hymns, to the top of Cam Peak for approximately 11am.

GOOD FRIDAY 7PM - CHURCHES TOGETHER CHOIR PERFORM STAINER’S CRUCIFXION
A performance of Stainer’s Crucifixion, which tells the story of Easter and involves congregational hymns. 7pm at Dursley Tabernacle. No charge, but donations welcome towards the new youth centre.

EASTER SATURDAY – 7.30PM FURY WALK TO TAKE DOWN THE CROSS
Every Easter our youth group makes a twilight walk to Cam Peak to take down the cross so it can be stored safely overnight before being put back the next day. This year we are doing this on the evening of Easter Saturday. Simon Helme will lead some reflections on what Easter Saturday means. He will start in the church graveyard reflecting on shattered hopes, grief and things we want put away in a cold tomb, before making the trek to the top of Cam Peak for further prayers and reflections.
Non -youth group members/adults are invited to come along – though obviously there is a fair amount of walking involved over uneven surfaces. Refreshments (hot cross buns, hot chocolates etc) will be available back at the new manse at the end of the walk..

EASTER SUNDAY
9AM GARDEN SERVICE – Carole Allen will lead a short reflective and participatory service in the Church Garden to recapture the first Easter dawn when the women went to the tomb and found it empty.
9.30am EASTER BREAKFAST – IN THE TAB UPPER HALL – Come and enjoy a special breakfast on Easter morning with the church family.
10.30AM EASETR DAY COMMUNION SERVICE
Easter Day morning worship starts with the re-greening of the Lenten Cross followed by all-age communion with special bread rolls. Children are invited to share in communion (though we leave it to their parent’s discretion). We will receive six new church members. There will be special Easter activities for the children in the second half of worship.
